Quando usar Whether ou If

Hi guys, o tema de hoje tem a ver com um pouco de gramática, é sobre quando usar Whether e if.

São normalmente usados para questões afirmativas ou negativas:

He asked me whether I left home early.
We are not sure if they leave today.

O verbo discuss é usado com whether ao invés de if:

We discussed whether she should be fired.
They discussed whether to buy that car or not.

Após preposições se usa whether e não if:
We talked about whether we should sell the house.

Antes de verbos no infinitivos:

I can't decide whether to buy the house or the car.
She considered whether to give up that position.

Whether é mais usado em frases formais:

Let me know whether you will be able to attend the conference.
The CEO will decide whether this is a risk worth taking.
